Youth Summit 2025: a space for gathering, reflection, and action for First Nations youth
From November 6 to 9, 2025, the First Nations of Québec and Labrador Youth Network (FNQLYN) held the Youth Summit 2025 at the Duchesnay Tourism Resort in Québec City, bringing together First Nations youth from communities and urban settings across Québec-Labrador.
Designed by and for youth, this Summit aimed to create a safe and mobilizing space where young people could come together, exchange, reflect collectively, and make their voices heard on the issues that concern them.
A powerful moment of mobilization and dialogue
Throughout the Summit, participants took part in workshops, panels, political discussions, and cultural activities, fostering intergenerational dialogue, the sharing of experiences, and the collective reflection of the realities lived by First Nations youth.
These exchanges made it possible to address several key themes, including:
-
the current priorities and needs of youth;
-
the political and organizational future of the FNQLYN;
-
the place of youth in decision-making spaces;
-
the strength of Indigenous identity, culture, and leadership.
The Summit also provided an opportunity to strengthen connections among youth, break isolation, and consolidate a sense of belonging to a broader collective movement.
An engaged youth shaping the future
The richness of the Youth Summit 2025 lies above all in the commitment, creativity, and sincerity of the young people who participated. Their voices, ideas, and visions fueled the reflections and will guide the Network’s future actions.
The FNQLYN wishes to highlight the valuable contribution of:
-
First Nations youth, for their active participation and leadership;
-
Elders, mentors, and facilitators, for their teachings and presence;
-
partners and collaborators, who made this large-scale event possible.
What’s next?
The Youth Summit 2025 marks an important milestone, but it is only a starting point. The exchanges and reflections that emerged from these days will continue to inform the work of the FNQLYN in the months ahead.
What lies ahead promises new initiatives, mobilizing projects, and concrete opportunities for youth to get involved and help shape the future.
